Established in 1992, Mike's Dive Store is a well stocked dive centre based in Chiswick, London.

Mike's likes to hire people that are not only enthusiastic about diving, but have dived in different areas around the world.

Not only do we sell gear but we are a great resource for information on actual dive sites

"It is quite possible that we will have three or four different customers in the shop discussing dive destinations or equipment, or swapping information on a dive site, or where you can get the best Margarita’s in resort. Our customers like coming in here because we give them great general dive knowledge and we can often also give them information on the resort they are about to visit."

The role is quite versatile. The sales assistant needs to love people, enjoy working in a busy retail environment and have some diving experience. Mike's stock over 60 brands, therefore the candidate will also fulfil online orders from the shop, picking and packing orders.

Mike's Dive Store services equipment, changes dive computer batteries, and sells cold water and warm water dive equipment. It is staffed by a team of hard working, passionate divers who love a laugh.

To apply please with your CV, along with a covering letter outlining your sales / retail experience. There is an excellent rate of pay and prospects for the correct candidate.

Requirements

  • Hands on with an attention to detail
  • IT literacy
  • Great customer service skills
  • A team player that thrives working in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work Saturdays
  • Able to work legally in the UK
  • Mike Calder

Mike Calder founded 'Mikes Waterfront Warehouse' in 1992, when he opened his first dive centre in England. He got the name from the building - it literally was a warehouse - located on the banks of the River Thames in East Twickenham. His advert at the time included "get a taxi from the tube station and I'll pay the fare."

Mike Calder was a tour de force in the British scuba diving industry, and a natural salesman who loved diving with a passion. He took the long view. His ethos was that if his customers were satisfied, they’d return and they did.

Sadly he died on 20 September 2009 from cancer. Mike may have passed away but Mike's Dive Store is still thriving. His legacy lives on. When Mike's son took the tough decision to sell the business, he sold it to the manager Steve for two reasons. Firstly Steve had the same passion that Mike had for scuba diving. And secondly Steve would carry on the tradition of good service and advice from a position of a wealth of knowledge very much as Mike Calder had done.
