Rebreather Checklists!

What do you really do?

A diver checking his rebreather during Divetech's Inner Space. Note the checklist on top of his unit

Throughout experts from all fields - manufacturing, human interface design, accident analysis, rebreather training and diving - all advocated the use of checklists. The benefits of using this tool were highlighted to ensure that units are correctly built and pre-dive checks completed.

In fact the Forum voted that the use of a checklist should be included in the Rebreather Forum 3 Consensus Statements. And if you are interested in how this final session of RF3 happened, you can hear and see this part of RF3.

PADI TecRec has noticed that whilst electronic checklists (that are integrated into a rebreather) are used, physical checklists seem to have disappeared.

Are people relying on memory? Do you sometimes forget a check? What is really happening in the field?
