We recently reported that a volunteer team of divers had been given special permission to survey the wreck of the HMS Royal Oak in Scapa Flow.

Kari Hyttinen's £4,500 laptop was stolen from a flat in Scapa Flow

We also highlighted in the same article that had been stolen. (A 'Schenker' laptop, along with back up discs, a Dell monitor and two powerful underwater lamps). The £4,500 laptop belonged to respected expedition diver Kari Hyttinen.

Now a relative of a crew member who perished on the Royal Oak has started a crowd funding campaign to raise funds to help pay for the stolen equipment.

We were so very sorry to hear that the team had lost much of their equipment and, consequently the data and images they had been working on through theft. Jacqueline Lake

"Like many families related to those who served we were looking forward to seeing all that the team had documented and were so very sorry to hear that the team had lost much of their equipment and, consequently the data and images they had been working on through theft.

I understand now that there is little hope of these items being recovered and I have it on very good authority that the actual cost of the items stolen were in excess of £10k". Jacqueline Lake

To date £910 has been raised by Royal Oak supporters to help replace the stolen equipment. If you would like to make a donation, to the Crowdfunding campaign.
