EUROTEK raises over £4,000 for the BCRC
Earlier this year the world focused on an unprecedented rescue mission, after 12 boys and their football coach became trapped in a flooded Thai cave. Over a 1,000 people were involved in this international rescue, including a small team of British Cave Rescue Council (BCRC) extreme cave diving explorers and surface control specialists.
Buddy Dive Resort donated a fantastic six-day diving holiday to Bonaire
The British Cave Rescue Council is a co-ordinating body for voluntary underground rescues in the British Isles. It is a charity entirely funded by donations. The money it receives goes to support rescues in the UK and overseas, ie buying relevant gear such as communications equipment.
The EUROTEK Raffle
Earlier this month the European advanced and technical diving conference, EUROTEK, was held in Birmingham, England. "We always hold a fund-raising raffle at EUROTEK. This year it is wholly appropriate that the money raised is donated to the British Cave Rescue Council", stated Rosemary E Lunn, EUROTEK co-founder and organiser. "When I approached the recreational and technical diving industry for raffle prizes, they were hugely supportive of the idea and gave us some superb prizes. Thanks to the generosity of the donating companies and divers across the world, we raised over £4,000 for the British Cave Rescue Council. This money will be used to help aid future overseas cave rescues."
KISS Rebreather
The Arkansas manufacturer donated a KISS Spirit Sidewinder Rebreather worth US$5,785.00 and confirmed that the winner has the option to customise and upgrade this unit.
Buddy Dive
The Bonaire based diving centre donated a week's stay at the Buddy Dive Resort and six days Nitrox diving.
Bespoke Otter Drysuit
The Bradford based manufacturer donated their latest suit - an Otter ‘Atlantic’ drysuit - worth over £2,000. It comes complete with a pee-valve and KUBI dry gloves.
Thanks to the global generosity of the donating companies and divers contributions, we raised over £4,000 for the British Cave Rescue Council. The money will be used help save lives and aid future overseas cave rescues. Rosemary E Lunn
Trip To Truk
Dirty Dozen Expeditions and Master Liveaboards gave a voucher worth US$2,500 towards a trip of a lifetime to dive Truk Lagoon.
Goodie Bag
Thanks to the support of AP Diving, Apeks, Dive Rite, A Frayed Knot, Halcyon, Kent Tooling Diving Products, Poseidon Diving, Santi Diving, Weezle Diving Services, EUROTEK was able to give away two very special Goodie Bags worth over £500 each.
Halcyon Wing & Kent Tooling Voucher
This dual prize from Florida based Halcyon (a wing of the divers choice) and a gift voucher from Kent Tooling Diving Products, the British accessory manufacturer, was worth over £500.
A trio of Diving Books
Authors Martyn Farr, Freda Wright and Mark Powell respectively donated a copy of 'The Darkness Beckons', '40 Dishes 40 Dives' and 'Deco For Divers'.
