NAUI Services Group Announces Green Diver Initiative Manager Position

February 06, 2018 - 21:34

Press Release

The National Association of Underwater Instructors’ (NAUI Worldwide) commitment to the Green Diver Initiative (GDI) has led to expanded efforts and the hiring of a new, full-time manager who will lead the GDI team in achieving its mission of empowering individuals to conserve and preserve our ocean planet.

The GDI has grown in scope and strategy and is looking for the right person who can maximize the effectiveness of its conservation efforts and increase awareness of its Dive4Change grant program and its participants and supporters, both locally and globally. A top priority for the new manager will be initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, diver best practices, and fundraising to support grassroots initiatives and the growth of the GDI worldwide.

“We look forward to working with the new manager to foster GDI’s continued success and its work to promote best practices by divers and water enthusiasts in order to preserve and conserve our shared aquatic resources,” said GDI Board Chair, Angie Cowan.

Alongside NAUI Worldwide, the Green Diver Initiative has been actively advancing its corporate partnerships and Dive4Change grant program, as well as other initiatives, since July 2015.

Since late 2017, members of the GDI Board of Directors have inacted a proposal to seek individuals who will take on the development and implementation of an operational plan to meet or exceed revenue. To execute these plans, they have developed a strategy to support a manager who will conceptualize, plan, budget and implement campaign strategies to retain, grow and recruit participants for assigned events and GDI activities.

This position works closely with the NAUI Services Group, Inc. (NSG) Business Development and Marketing teams to foster participant engagement, exceed donor expectations and drive revenue to support the GDI mission. Strong relationship-building skills, a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to working as a team are essential for success in this role.

The GDI manager must have a passion for conservation and a strong desire to make a difference in the protection of aquatic resources. Travel may be required, but mostly within Florida. This position reports to the NSG Executive Director Dallas Edmiston and the GDI Board Chair Angie Cowan and is based in Riverview, Florida at the NSG office.

The Green Diver Initiative is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to conserving and preserving the ocean planet. The organization promotes a global community of NAUI Worldwide certified divers and friends, and is open to anyone concerned about the future of our aquatic resources.
