New MCA Code for UK Pleasure Craft

On 10 January 2018 the Maritime and Coastguard Agency launched a new 'Intended Pleasure Vessels Code' or IPV Code for short.
It is now possible that UK pleasure vessels can be temporarily used commercially without having to comply with the usual vessel codes.
The MCA
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015. They produce legislation and guidance on maritime matters, and provide certification to seafarers.
