Rocio del Mar Live-aboard Fleet Introduces the Quino el Guardian

June 15, 2015 - 21:26

Press Release

Owners of the popular Rocio del Mar Live-Aboard Vessel are pleased to announce the launch of the new Quino el Guardian, a specialty vessel designed for conservation, education, research and unique charters in the Sea of Cortez, Socorro Island and the greater Pacific region.

According to Dora Sandoval, owner of the Rocio del Mar vessels, “We built this live-aboard with the same attention to detail, quality and excellence that guests have some to expect on the Rocio del Mar. The main difference between the two vessels is the mission. Quino el Guardian comfortably handles 18 guests – perfect for custom educational and scientific voyages.”

Sandoval said the Quino el Guardian has already been booked for several scientific expeditions including a trip to the Socorro Islands and the Clipperton Islands later this year. The “Big Migrations Expedition” features Dr. Mauricio Hoyos and provides a select group of divers the opportunity to join an authentic scientific expedition to observe and photograph large animals during the peak-migration season.

The vessel will be presenting a series of Citizen Science voyages. These intimate specialty trips will feature several well-known scientists and cover a variety of topics, locations and specific marine creatures. Preliminary topics including shark and whale migration, manta population studies, tagging and tracking for scientific study and much more.

Sandoval will be talking about the new vessel and the Citizen Science opportunities this weekend at the annual SCUBA Show in Long Beach. Visit booth number 107 during the weekend. Opportunities exist for local dive clubs, photography groups and members of the scientific community to charter the vessel for 7, 10 and 14-day adventures.
