Sea Save Foundation partners with Shark Week to promote ocean conservation

Malibu-based Sea Save Foundation has been named one of two non-profit organizations to partner with Discovery Channel’s popular and newly revamped ​SHARK WEEK program​ming​. In addition, Sea Save Director Georgienne Bradley was selected as one of a select group of influencers to participate in Shark Week's Shark Finbassador program​ as part of their intitiative to implement programming that is more truthful, educational and scientific.​

“Partnering with an incredibly popular and influential program like Shark Week presents a huge opportunity for us to reach and educate a large portion of the country about the threats to the world’s oceans and specifically to the danger to sharks caused by the horrific practice of shark finning,” said Bradley.

As part of its Shark Week activities, Sea Save Foundation will hold ​an online Shark Week Auction​ and prior to the Discovery Channels Shark Weekend in A​u​gust. Sea Save Foundation, as an OFFICIAL partner of Shark Week has chosen to​ ​bookend its auction to best leverage the traffic and social media reach of Shark Week to make this auction most successful.​​ Please go to http://www.seasave.org for offical launch date.​

​P​roceeds from the auction will go directly to Sea Save Foundation​ and supporting its efforts to continue working on marine conservation​. The Auction will include items and experiences including: ​A week aboard the Palau Siren, Quino El Guardian, or Damai. a week stay at Atlantis Resort Puerto Galera​​, Atlantis Resort Dumaguete, Stuart Cove's, Matava, or Palau Pacific Resort, Photography by Amos Nachoum, and much much more!!

The Shark Week Shark Finbassadors Program is a collaboration between Discovery Channel and the ocean conservation community and will allow filmmakers, scientists, photographers, artists and advocates to share their passion and insight about sharks online. During Shark Week, the Shark Finbassadors will be connecting with fans through live Q&As, discussing Shark Week programs and taking over Shark Week's ​social media account with beautiful shark photography​ and inspirational and educational quotes. ​ Sea Save’s Bradley will host a Google hangout ​pn July 9th. and will answer questions and discuss topics of viewer interest.

Shark Week, television's longest running and most anticipated summer event returns to Discovery Channel on Sunday, July 5 with the most hours of shark programming in its 28-year history. In addition to kicking off Shark Week earlier than ever before, for the first time, Discovery is introducing a special weekend of all-new Shark Week programming at the end of the summer in August, officially making 2015 the "Summer of the Shark" with a total of 19 hours of Prime Time Shark Week programming.
