Suunto launch a blind auction to aid the British Cave Rescue Council
Suunto Diving UK has just announced they will run a blind auction to raise money for the BCRC.
The British Cave Rescue Council is the Representative body for voluntary underground rescue in the British Isles and it is entirely funded by donations.
Last week - Tuesday 26 June - the BCRC received a request for "specialist cave diving rescue help" from the Thai authorities.
This request was not unexpected because there is a small team of British extreme explorers who assist in these intense rescues.
Suunto Diving UK have today stated that they wish to support this rescue and that 11 UK dive centres will run a blind auction for an Eon Core computer.
All you need to do is to visit one of the dive centres and place your bid for the dive computer.
The auction will run until Sunday 15 July and the highest bidder at each dive centre will be contacted for payment on Monday 16 July.
The participating dive centres
- Andark Diving, Southampton
- Aquanauts, Plymouth
- Aquasport International, Birmingham
- Christal Seas Scuba, Norwich
- Frogsborn Diving Services, Flintshire
- Mikes Dive Store, Chiswick
- Ocean Leisure, London
- SDS Watersports, Sheffield
- Simply Scuba, Faversham
- Stoney Cove, Leicestershire
- Wraysbury Dive Centre, Staines
How can you help?
If you do not want to bid for a new Suunto Eon Core computer, or you cannot get to one of the above dive centres you can still make a donation to the British Cave Rescue Council. The BCRC is not that well funded and purely survives on these valuable donations. All the money raised goes to help support vital rescues conducted by experienced, specialist volunteers.
